Assessment of Metallo-beta-lactamase Producing Pseudomonas Species in Soil: Insights from Assam University Campus

Abstract
The incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria is increasing, including metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-producing Pseudomonas sp.. The aim of this study was to screen metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs)-producing Pseudomonas sp. soil isolates showing susceptibility to imepenem.. MBL production was investigated by phenotypic tests using combined disc diffusion method. During the 3 months period of sampling, 30 isolates of Pseudomonas sp. were isolated from soil environments out of which 56.66% revealed MBL-producing isolates, 43.33% non-producers and 10% showed imepenem resistant.

The Role of Information System Development in Supporting Patient Safety and Nurse Efficiency

Abstract
Although an unambiguous and consistent representation is the foundation of data reuse, a locally developed documentation system such as nursing flowsheets often fails to meet the requirement. This article presents the domain modeling process of the ICU nursing flowsheet to clarify the meaning that its contents represent and the lessons learned during the activity. This study has been done as a first step toward reusing the data documented in a computerized nursing flowsheet for an algorithmic decision making. Following the ontology development processes proposed by other researchers a conceptual model was developed using Protégé. Then the existing information model was refined by fully specifying the embedded information structures and by establishing linkages to the conceptual model at the finest-grained concept level. Domain knowledge that the experienced nurses provided was critical to correctly interpret the meaning of the flowsheet contents as well as to verify the newly developed models. This study reassured the importance of the roles of a nurse information to develop a computerized nursing documentation system that accurately represents the information needs in nursing practice.

Microbial Diversity Assessment in the River Barak and Its Tributaries, Assam, India

Abstract
The present work was undertaken with the objective to isolate bacteria from the aquatic fresh water ecosystem of Barak River and its tributaries and to assess the microbial contamination due to human activity. Water samples were collected from 14 different sites and analyzed for physicochemical and bacteriological parameters. On the basis of their morphological and physiological characteristics, a total of 23 bacterial isolates belonging to 8 genera were identified which include 26.09% Pseudomonas, 21.74% Staphylococcus, 13.04% Escherichia coli, 13.04% Sarcina, 8.69% Enterobacter, 8.69% Shigella, 4.35% Serretia, and 4.35% Klebsiella. The water of river Barak and its tributaries had been found to be largely polluted due to domestic and agricultural waste disposal, discharge from sewage and industrial effluents, animal defecation and waddling, bathing and washing, fishing and swimming etc. Mass awareness program on water resource conservation and water borne disease as well as eco-friendly agricultural practices should be carried out in the Barak Valley region. Also, initiative should be taken to facilitate potable drinking water to the people residing in river catchments.

Abstract
The titled dye of DBPI give amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) with maximum at 580 nm upon pumping by nitrogen laser (λex. =337.1 nm). The ground state absorption cross section (σA) and emission cross section (σE) as well as effective emission cross section(σ*E) have been determined. The electronic absorption spectra of DBPI were measured in ethanol and tetrahydrofuran at room and low temperature. DBPI displays molecular aggregation in water. The photochemical reactivity of DBPI was also studied in carbon tetrachloride upon irradiation with 525 nm light. Cyclic voltammetry of DBPI dye was also studied in different solvents at different scan rates. Cyclic voltammograms for reduction of DBPI gives two reversible peaks corresponding to radical anion and dianion formation. The oxidation of DBPI dye give one reversible oxidation peak at 1.4 volt corresponding to radical cation formation.

Investigating Charge-Transfer Complexes: Spectroscopic and Thermal Kinetic Analysis of (Panto & Ome)-prazole as Donor with DDQ, CHLC, and Iodine as Acceptors

Abstract
Charge transfer (CT) complexes were carried out using the most widely selling and effective pharmaceutical drugs as Pantoprazole (PANT) and Omeprazole (OMER) as electron donors; solid interaction with different benzoquinone derivatives as acceptors and Iodine were isolated and characterized by IR and 1H-NMR (Nuclear magnetic resonance) .Thermo gravimetric analysis with different heating rates (TGA) were studied on solid state complexes using computational integral methods for Coats Redfern and Ozawa using various solid state kinetic reaction models and established activation energy, energy band gape and thermodynamic parameters . The Differential Scanning Calorimetric (DSC) technique was used to study the nature decomposition of charge transfer complexes. The morphological structure were discussed and examined via Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).The molecular structures of Pentaprazole, DDQ, CHLC and I2& charge transfer complexes in the ground state were made by using Gaussian 03 program package.

Helicobacter pylori Infection and Its Impact on Peptic Ulcer Disease Among Children in Albania

Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the role of H pylori in peptic ulcer disease in albanian children according to clinical findings, histological data and eradication rate. Methods and patients: We have enrolled in this study all the patients who underwent to FGS for gastrointestinal symptoms during three years. We found 22 patients with peptic ulcer disease 20 of them with duodenal ulcer and 2 with gastric ulcer. For each patient we performed two biopsies (antrum and corpus ) and one more antral biopsy for urease rapid test. After completing the data for 22 patients we have started eradication therapy for Hp positive group. Two months after therapy we have evaluated the eradication rate. For each patient we have included clinical, endoscopic and histological findings. Results: Of the 22 patients with peptic ulcer disease we found 17 patients infected by H pylori and 5 patients negative for H pylori. Range was from 8 years old to 14 years old (mean age was 11,3 years old). In this study with 22 patients there are 18 boys and 4 girls. Hp positive group had 14 boys and 3 girls while Hp negative group had 4 boys and 1 girl. Abdominal pain was equal with GI bleeding while the most frequent histological finding was chronic active gastritis. Of the 17 patients Hp positive 15 of them were negative for Hp two months after triple therapy. Conclusion: H. pylori play an important role in peptic ulcer disease in albanian children . His incidence is approximately 77 %. Male predomination was another interesting finding in our study. Eradication rate of H pylori was 88.2 %.
