Does service quality affect students’ performance? Evidence from institutes of higher learning

Abstract
Service quality is widely used and experimented in various sectors. Five dimensions of service quality are the dimensions that can be applied in every sector whether manufacturing or services sector. This paper is also aimed to see impact of service quality on satisfaction and motivation of students. Finally importance of satisfaction and motivation is also searched for performance of students. This paper is useful to see the importance of service quality to satisfy customers. SERVQUAL model of service quality given by Parasuraman et al. (1988) is used. It contains five dimensions tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. Findings show significance of relationship between dimensions of service quality that is, tangibles, assurance and empathy with satisfaction while tangible, responsiveness and assurance are significantly related with student motivation. Finally looking, at the performance aspect of students academic career it has been observed that both student’s satisfaction and motivation are important for better performance of students.

Guidelines for improving the adoption of cleaner production in companies through attention to non-technical factors: A literature review

Abstract
The success of Cleaner Production programmes is an essential part of the search for more sustainable societies, because Cleaner Production emerges as one of the main activities of the companies committed to effective environmental management. However, it is believed that Cleaner Production proves to be unrealistic without the support of human resources. Thus, the main purpose of this article is to present some guidelines for improving the adoption of Cleaner Production in companies through attention to non- technical factors (human resource practices and factors). In this article we present a literature review about cleaner production and the role of non -technical factors in the greening of companies. Then, we propose some guidelines for improving the adoption of cleaner production based on non-technical and human resources factors (organizational culture, training, and others).

Abstract
Project portfolio management implementation is a complex phenomenon among others within the project portfolio management as a new concept of the management science. The phenomenon is considered first, as a phase of the overall project portfolio management process, and then as a specific projects itself. There are also considerations of the project portfolio management implementation specific requirements, problems and final benefits for the organization able to complete it successfully.

Estimating the effect of stochastic health on employment, hours of work, and saving decisions

Abstract
The object of this paper is to examine the empirical relationship between individuals’ perceived health uncertainty, labor inputs, and saving decisions. Most existing empirical studies treat health status as a known variable to individuals, thereby omitting health uncertainty in context of labor market outcomes. We distinguish our study by assuming a precautionary motivation for risk-averse individuals, to work harder and save more when facing the uncertainty of their health condition. We test this hypothetical relationship by applying the data collected from the 2003–2005 Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD) in Taiwan. The study result indicates that while uncertainty over the health condition would discourage people from joining the labor market, those who are already in the labor market will input more working hours to earn extra income for the future consumption. In addition, stochastic health has a positive and significant effect on saving decision.

Is the balanced scorecard really helpful for improving performance? Evidence from software companies in China and Taiwan

Abstract
In the past twenty years, Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has been regarded as a possible effective performance measurement system. In recent decade, BSC is gradually connected with strategic goal management and performance control. However, scholars are still uncertain about the causal relationship between BSC and enhancement of strategic goal accomplishment and performance. Based on previous researches, this study adopted quasi-experimental and longitudinal design to gain a better control over the internal validity of research, and conducted experiments on the popular software industry in Taiwan. Different from past researches that are focused on western companies, the results of this study showed a higher degree of generalization of BSC management. The findings demonstrated that in comparison to control group which did not implement BSC, the experimental companies that had implemented BSC tended to accomplish the goals or have better performance. The results confirmed that implementation of BSC management could effectively enhance accomplishment of strategic goals and performance.

Determinants of low-income non-users’ attitude towards WIG mobile phone banking: Evidence from South Africa

Abstract
The slow adoption rate of mobile phone banking remains a dilemma for marketing managers globally. Previous studies on mobile phone banking adoption behavior lack investigation on low-income non-users’ adoption behavior and adoption behavior with regard to a specific type of mobile phone banking application. Therefore, this study investigates the attitude formation of low-income non-users towards Wireless Internet Gateway (WIG) mobile phone banking. A non-probability sample of 465 low-income non-users was drawn. The results of the assessment of the structural model indicate that considering the total effects, ease of use and usefulness almost influence attitude with the equivalent strength. Other findings include that cost and ease of use influence usefulness of WIG mobile phone banking for low-income non-users, facilitating conditions and self-efficacy influence ease of use, and that the total effect of facilitating conditions on ease of use is relatively strong. Based on these findings practical suggestions are presented to enhance the adoption rate of WIG mobile phone banking in the low-income market segment.
