Abstract
The primary focus of this research is to develop a tool using semi-precious metals and quartz for preventing or eliminating wax deposition in production and transport system. It also focuses on explaining the mechanisms of using piezoelectric energy generated from mixtures of semi-precious metals and quartz to prevent wax deposition. Five samples of waxy crude were sourced from Niger Delta and characterized for the purpose of this experiment. Quartz was sourced from Bauchi State of Nigeria while two semi-precious metals, zinc and lead sourced from Jos Metallurgical Development Centre, Plateau State of Nigeria were used. The metals were grounded to smaller sizes and mixed with the quartz. Molten aluminium was used to fabricate the tool. The tool was then fixed into the flow line. Each of the crude samples was flown through the flow system under reduced temperature and pressure (below its wax appearance temperature) and the quantity of wax deposited was recorded before the tool and after the tool. The results show that immediately after the condenser, higher percentage of wax deposit was recorded but as the fluid pass through the fabricated tool the quantity of deposits reduced drastically. This is an indication of effectiveness of the fabricated tool in preventing wax deposits along the flow lines. It was also noticed that the effectiveness is more pronounced with zinc plus quartz crystal with over 32% success in achieving deposit reduction on the most potential problematic crude sample while lead achieved only 17.9% success on the same sample.

Abstract
A detailed design of the evacuated tube collectors is enumerated followed by the thermal network analysis of this collector. The temperature of each component is determined empirically. Numerical analysis is applied to find the coefficient of heat transfer across the air gap from absorber plate to the copper tubes. The performance characteristics of these collectors are analyzed and compared with commercially available brands to test their capability to power the generator of an absorption chiller. The generator of a typical 1 KW capacity refrigeration system is designed based on the hot water made available from outlet of evacuated tube collectors.

Abstract
In this paper, high surface area nanocrystalline gamma alumina was synthesized by the sol-gel method using cationic surfactant. The Pt-based dehydrogenation catalysts consisting of promoters and support modifiers (Sn, In, Li and Fe) were prepared using the synthesized gamma alumina and employed in the dehydrogenation reaction of n- dodecane. The effects of different successive impregnation methods for Pt, Sn and In elements were investigated in dehydrogenation of normal dodecane. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption (BET), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Temperature programmed reduction (TPR) techniques. The catalytic performances of the prepared samples showed the best catalytic results for the catalyst which was prepared by the co -impregnation of In, Sn and Fe in the first step followed by Pt and Li impregnation in the second and third step, respectively. The synthesized support also performed well as an efficient carrier for the dehydrogenation catalyst of higher normal paraffins.a

Abstract
This study presents the results of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and cyclonic separator for simultaneous oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) reduction in a direct injection (DI) diesel engine under different engine loads and speeds. There is a significant NOx reduction by EGR, but PM is hugely increased, especially at high EGR rate-high load conditions. A significant reduction in PM is achieved by the use of cyclonic separator without deteriorating other emissions. At high speed-high load conditions, the cyclonic separator has a greater efficiency. Both NOx and PM reduce simultaneously when EGR and cyclonic separator are used together. Using cyclonic separator with high EGR rates, a remarkable NOx reduction is possible keeping the PM level significantly lower than non-EGR level.

Abstract
One of the most important tasks in reservoir engineering is characterizing different parameters of the reservoir. Water saturation is a parameter which helps evaluating the volume of hydrocarbon in reservoirs. Determination of this parameter started from 1942 by integrating some well logs in clean sandstones. After that, many scientists introduced some equations to validate this procedure in shaly sands and carbonates. To treat the problem of dependency of water saturation estimation on core analysis in previous works, other scientists proposed using rock physics and arrived at improved models of water saturation estimation. More recently, interpreters have used seismic attributes to evaluate water saturation values directly or estimating proper rock physical properties such as shale volume which are useful in water saturation estimation process.

Abstract
This paper considers the flow of a conducting viscous incompressible fluid between two non-conducting parallel discs, when the magnetic field was applied perpendicularly to the discs. The upper disc is in steady rotation, while the lower one is a stationary porous disc. The whole flow is divided into two regions: the free fluid region (between two parallel discs) and the porous region (this flow is of porous material). The approximate solutions are obtained by solving the Navier-Stokes equations in the free fluid region, and the Darcy’s equations in the porous region with suitable boundary conditions at the interface. The effects of rotation, Hartmann number and forced parameter have been considered on the flow characteristics and are illustrated by graphs. The flow is essentially dominated by rotational effect as well as by the forced parameter.
