Author Charges

Introduction

The African Journal of Agriculture and Food Security (AJAFS) is committed to providing open access to all published research, allowing for greater visibility and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of agriculture and food security. To sustain this open access model, we do implement certain author charges.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

To cover the costs associated with the editorial process, typesetting, and online hosting, AJAFS charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts. The current APC is $500 USD. This fee is applicable once a manuscript is accepted for publication. This amount may be more for authors from developed countries and reduced for those from resource-limited countries.

Payment Process

Upon acceptance of a manuscript, authors will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed with the payment of the APC. Payment can be made through various methods, including credit card and bank transfer, to ensure convenience for all authors.

Fee Waivers and Reductions

We understand that financial constraints can be a barrier to publication, especially for researchers from low-income countries. To support these authors, AJAFS offers fee waivers or reductions on a case-by-case basis. Authors seeking a waiver or reduction should indicate this request during the submission process and provide a brief explanation of their circumstances.

Institutional Support

Some institutions may have agreements with AJAFS to cover publication fees for their researchers. Authors are encouraged to check with their respective institutions to see if such arrangements are in place, which could help alleviate the cost of publication.

Conclusion

The author charges at the African Journal of Agriculture and Food Security are essential to maintaining our open access model and ensuring high-quality publication standards. We strive to support authors throughout the publication process and encourage researchers to submit their work to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in agriculture and food security.
