Editorial Process

At the African Journal of Crop Science, we strive to maintain a transparent and efficient editorial process that upholds the integrity of scholarly publishing. Below is an overview of our editorial process for submitted manuscripts:

1. Submission of Manuscripts

Authors interested in publishing their research in the African Journal of Crop Science should submit their manuscripts through our online submission system. We encourage authors to carefully follow the submission guidelines to ensure their manuscript meets our requirements.

2. Initial Assessment

Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial assessment of the manuscript. This evaluation focuses on the manuscript's adherence to our scope, quality, and format. Manuscripts that do not meet our criteria may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected without further review.

3. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are sent for peer review. We employ a double-blind peer review system, meaning that both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. Typically, two to three independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the research
  • Methodological rigor
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Relevance to the journal's audience

4. Review Feedback

After the peer review is completed, the editorial team compiles the reviewers' comments and recommendations. Authors receive this feedback along with a decision regarding their manuscript. The possible decisions include:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication with no or minimal revisions.
  • Revise and Resubmit: The manuscript requires revisions based on reviewer feedback before it can be considered for publication.
  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards for publication.

5. Revisions

If revisions are requested, authors are given a specific timeframe to address the reviewers' comments and resubmit their manuscript. The revised manuscript may undergo further review to ensure all concerns have been adequately addressed.

6. Final Decision

Once all revisions are complete, the editorial team makes a final publication decision. If accepted, the manuscript moves into the production phase.

7. Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts are formatted for publication, and authors will receive proofs for final review. After author approval of the proofs, the article is published online and made freely accessible to readers.

8. Post-Publication

After publication, we encourage authors to promote their work through various channels. The African Journal of Crop Science also monitors the impact of published articles through metrics and reader engagement. For any questions regarding the editorial process, authors can reach out to our editorial office at [insert contact email].We appreciate your interest in the African Journal of Crop Science and look forward to your valuable contributions.
