Aims and Scope

African Journal of Environmental and Waste Management is a peer-reviewed, open access journal covering the fields of waste management,  occupational health and toxicology, environmental engineering, systems engineering,  biomass, biological waste treatment, bioenergy, biotransformations and bioresource systems analysis and sanitation; mineralization, detoxification, recycling, amelioration or treatment of chemicals or waste materials by naturally-occurring microbial strains, microbial associations or recombinant organisms. The journal aims to promote environmental science and technology, waste management, innovation, engineering and management.

Also papers dealing with environmental pollution control and abatement technology, transport and fate of pollutants in the environment, concentrations and dispersion of wastes in air, water, and soil, point and non-point sources pollution, heavy metals and organic compounds in the environment, atmospheric pollutants and trace gases, solid and hazardous waste management; soil biodegradation and bioremediation of contaminated sites; environmental impact assessment, industrial ecology, ecological and human risk assessment; improved energy management and auditing efficiency and environmental standards and criteria, waste handling and transport, waste handling practices, financial models, disposal methods, landfill, incineration, recycling, re-use, biological reprocessing, energy recovery, pyrolysis, resource recovery, sustainability, liquid waste-management, sewage sludge, avoidance and reduction methods, international waste movement, benefits of waste management, challenges of waste management in developing countries, waste management technologies, are welcomed.

The journal intends to publish the most exciting research on the fate and behaviour of emerging contaminants, human impact on the environment, human exposure to environmental contaminants and their health effects, and environmental remediation and management.
