Editorial Process

Introduction
The editorial process at the African Journal of Agriculture ISSN 2375-1134 is designed to ensure the highest standards of quality, integrity, and transparency in the publication of research. Our goal is to facilitate a thorough and fair review of all submitted manuscripts, while providing a positive experience for both authors and reviewers.

Submission of Manuscripts

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts through our online submission system. All submissions must adhere to our author guidelines, which outline the formatting and style requirements. Upon submission, the editorial team will conduct an initial review to ensure that the manuscript meets our basic criteria for consideration.

Initial Review

Once a manuscript is submitted, it undergoes an initial review by the editorial team. This review assesses the relevance of the research to the scope of AJA, the originality of the work, and compliance with our submission guidelines. If the manuscript meets these criteria, it will be sent for peer review.

Peer Review Process

We employ a double-blind peer review process, where both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. This process is crucial for maintaining objectivity and minimizing bias in the evaluation of the manuscript. Typically, we aim to send manuscripts to two or more expert reviewers in the field of agricultural economics and rural development.

  1. Reviewer Selection: The editorial team carefully selects reviewers based on their expertise and knowledge relevant to the submitted manuscript.
  2. Review Duration: Reviewers are given a set period (usually 2-4 weeks) to provide their feedback and recommendations regarding the manuscript.
  3. Feedback: Reviewers assess the quality, validity, and significance of the research, and provide constructive comments to the authors.

Decision Making

After receiving the reviews, the editorial team evaluates the feedback and makes a decision regarding the manuscript. Possible decisions include:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication with minor or no revisions.
  • Revise and Resubmit: The manuscript requires revisions based on reviewer feedback. Authors will be given a specified time to make the necessary changes and resubmit.
  • Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in AJA.

Authors will receive a notification detailing the decision and any relevant comments from the reviewers.

Final Review and Publication

Once a manuscript is accepted, it undergoes a final review for formatting and adherence to publication standards. Our editorial team ensures that all content meets our quality criteria before it is published.

After the final review, the accepted manuscript is prepared for publication and made available online on our open access platform. Authors will be notified once their article is published, and we encourage them to promote their work through their networks.

Conclusion

At AJA, we are committed to a transparent and efficient editorial process that upholds the integrity of research publication. We appreciate the contributions of our authors and reviewers and strive to support the dissemination of impactful research in agricultural economics and rural development.
