Editorial Process

The African Journal of Agronomy follows a thorough and transparent editorial process to ensure the quality and integrity of the research published. Below is an overview of the key steps involved in our editorial process:

  1. Submission of Manuscript
    • Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts through our online submission system. All submissions must adhere to the journal's formatting guidelines and ethical standards.
  2. Initial Review
    • Upon receiving a manuscript, the editorial team conducts an initial review to assess its suitability for the journal. This includes checking for adherence to submission guidelines and the relevance of the research to our audience.
  3. Peer Review
    • Manuscripts that pass the initial review are sent for peer review. We employ a double-blind review process, meaning that both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. This ensures impartiality and fairness. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, significance, methodology, and clarity.
  4. Reviewer Recommendations
    • After the peer review, reviewers submit their recommendations, which may include:
      • Accept as is
      • Accept with minor revisions
      • Revise and resubmit
      • Reject
    • The editorial team evaluates these recommendations and makes a final decision regarding the manuscript.
  5. Author Revisions
    • If revisions are requested, authors will be given a specified timeframe to address the reviewers' comments and resubmit their manuscript. The revised manuscript may undergo a second round of peer review.
  6. Final Decision
    • Once all revisions are submitted and reviewed, the editorial team will make a final decision. Authors will be notified of the outcome, along with any additional feedback from the reviewers.
  7. Publication
    • Accepted manuscripts will be prepared for publication. This includes copyediting, typesetting, and formatting to meet the journal's standards. Authors will receive proofs for final review before publication.
  8. Post-Publication
    • Following publication, articles will be made freely accessible to the public, in line with our open access policy. Authors are encouraged to promote their work to maximize its visibility and impact.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing and ensuring a fair and efficient editorial process. Thank you for considering the African Journal of Agronomy for your research!
